Jumpstarting Gen-Z Into Politics

Last year, our Fellows organized a thought-provoking panel discussion focused on the topic of young people running for elected office. This event served as a platform for exploring the various aspects of planning and executing a political campaign, while also addressing the historical and structural barriers that young candidates may face in their journey towards public service.

Our panelists represented a diverse range of perspectives and expertise, including the Supervisor of Elections (SOE) and leaders from both the Democratic and Republican parties in Alachua County. Through their insights and experiences, attendees gained valuable insights into the intricacies of the political process and the practical steps involved in launching a successful campaign.

“Jumpstarting Gen-Z into Politics” was more than just a discussion—it was an opportunity for young people to envision themselves as active participants in shaping the future of our democracy. By providing a platform for dialogue and exchange, we hoped to inspire a new generation of leaders who are passionate about making a difference in their communities.

As we look towards the future, we remain committed to empowering young people to take on leadership roles and advocate for change. Through initiatives like “Jumpstarting Gen-Z into Politics,” we strive to break down barriers and create pathways for young voices to be heard and valued in the political arena. Together, let’s continue to build a more inclusive and representative democracy that reflects the diversity and aspirations of all.
